About this Lord Buddha Art
Our talented Thai artist hand-painted this Lord Buddha Art on canvas with a touch of traditional Thai style. The painting depicts the Buddha seated over the Lotus throne. His right hand reached to touch the ground, while the left hand rested on his lap. This posture refers to a significant event of Buddha’s life. It is well-known as Subduing Mara or Calling the Earth to Witness. The image of this meditating Buddha posture has become a popular mural art in many Buddist temples.
During the time of searching for the truth in life, Mara, or the evil demon, had arrived to distract Prince Siddhartha from attaining enlightenment. Therefore, the prince had bent his right hand on to the ground in order to ask the Mother of Earth (Phra Mae Thorani) to witness his enlightenment. On the left and right side of the Buddha, there is a depiction of Nagas (king of snakes), to protect and shelter the Buddha from rain.
The artist uses a purple tone as a background color, in order to create a soft feeling of calm and peacefulness. Inviting this Buddha artwork into your room will help improve your meditation development. It is perfect wall art for your meditating room or office. However, we recommend NOT to place Buddha images in a bedroom or bathroom.
