This beautiful Arati woman painting is his inspiration from the Lord Buddha’s life story. At the time before the Buddha attened Enlightenment, Mara Demon (มาร), tried to prevent the Buddha to reach Nirvana by sending his beautiful 3 daughters to seduce him. The daughters are Tanha : ตัณหา (Thirst or Material attachment), Raga : ราคะ (Desire and Lust), and Arati : อรติ (Hatred and Discontentment). According to the legend, the 3 beautiful ladies were stripping in front of Buddha. Yet, they fail to entice him.
The main point of the story is in order to gain the absolute spiritual liberation or Nirvana, one must let go of worldly possession, desire, and hatred. Because, these three things (the three daughters) are the cause of our sufferings. The artist brings the mix of traditional style with the contemporary art onto the work. He uses light and shadow to play the part in expressing his imagination.
