About this Thai Giant Ramayana Painting

For centuries, Buddhism has long been an important foundation of Thai culture and tradition. In many Buddhist temples in Thailand, they always have statues of Yaksha, or Thai Giants stand guard the entrance gate. The roots of Thai Yak or Thai Giant originate in Asian folklore. In Thai culture, Thai Yak is an iconic figure representing Strength, Power, and Protection.

Traditionally, the major role of Thai Yak is to be a gate guardian protecting the sacred temples against all spiritual enemies. On the other hand, according to the Folklore background, Yaksha is a caretaker of the natural resources and treasures of the earth in Southern Asia. Some Thais believe that Yaksha can protect against evil ghosts, while give spiritual protection to the worshiper.
